Technological expectations and adoption of improved technology

Attention is concentrated upon the adoption (demand) instead of the creation (supply) of latest technology, which improves from time to time. supported the expected flow of technological progress over which the firm (demander) has no control, it must decide either to adopt the present best available technology or to postpone adoption. The distinguishing features of the model are that quite one technological innovation is anticipated and expectations about the likelihood of such innovations are revised as time passes since the last innovation. Our analysis shows that the firm will adopt the present best practice if its technological lag exceeds a particular threshold; moreover, as time passes without new technological advances it’s going to become profitable to get a technology that has been available albeit it had been not profitable to try to to so within the past. FACTORS AFFECTING ADOPTION OF IMPROVED MAIZE SEED AND FERTILISER IN NORTHERN TANZANIA

This study quantifies the socioeconomic factors that affect adoption of improved maize seed and chemical fertiliser by producers in Tanzania. A bootstrapped simultaneous equation Tobit model was wont to analyse data obtained from a survey of 246 farmers in Northern Tanzania. The adoption of improved maize seed was positively suffering from nitrogen use per hectare, farm size, farmer education attainment level, and visits by extension agents. Fertiliser adoption was positively associated with the world planted with improved seed. Larger farms attended use fertiliser less intensively than smaller farms. Results confirm the importance of recognising the heterogeneity of the farming population not only in terms of differences within the biophysical conditions but also within the socioeconomic, environmental conditions under which they operate. This has important implications in terms of developing different technologies and support systems that take such variation under consideration . The results also confirm the importance of that specialize in producer education as a component in influencing technology and in accepting the concept of a technology ladder in designing technological packages and disseminating extension messages. Factors Affecting Adoption of Improved Maize Seeds and Use of Inorganic Fertilizer for Maize Production in the Intermediate and Lowland Zones of Tanzania

This paper examines factors influencing the adoption of improved maize seeds and therefore the use of inorganic fertilizer for maize production by farmers within the intermediate and lowland zones of Tanzania. The results indicate that availability of extension services, on-farm field trials, variety characteristics and rainfall were the foremost important factors that influenced the extent of adopting improved maize seeds and therefore the use of inorganic fertilizer for maize production. Farmers preferred those varieties which minimize field loss instead of maximizing yields. Future research and extension policies should emphasize farmer participation within the research process and on-farm field trials for varietal evaluation and demonstration purposes. [3]

DNA fingerprinting at farm level maps rice biodiversity across Bangladesh and reveals regional varietal preferences

The development, dissemination, and adoption of improved rice varieties are imperative for global food and nutritional security. Knowledge of the crop’s distribution across agro-ecologies is vital for impact assessment studies, varietal replacement strategies, and therefore the development and implementation of agricultural policies. Bangladesh is that the world’s 4th largest rice producer. Though traditional varieties (TVs) are abundant and valued throughout Bangladesh, increase and vulnerability to global climate change , necessitate efficient deployment of high-yielding stress-tolerant modern varieties (MVs). to assist agricultural policy and strategy this study aimed to accurately assess the distribution of MVs and TVs across Bangladesh during the rainfed rice-growing season. Information derived from a survey of rice production areas were compared and combined with DNA fingerprinting information from an equivalent locations. [4]

Extent of Adoption of Improved Animal Husbandry Practices by Dairy Farmers of Morar Block in Gwalior District

Recent advances in farming technologies have demonstrated potential for maximization of milk productivity and every one these requires adoption of improved technologies. this study was conducted to assess the extent of adoption of improved farming practices by dairy farmers of Morar Block in Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh. Simple sampling method was wont to select 120 dairy farmers as respondents. The findings revealed that reproductive practices like AI at proper time of warmth with semen of excellent bull was regularly adopted by 80.00 per cent of the dairy farmers, regarding nutritional practices provision of ad lib clean and water was regularly adopted by 85.00 per cent of dairy farmers, washing of hands and udder before milking was the management practices regularly adopted by 96.67 per cent of the farmers.
