Mathematical Modeling and Optimal Control of Sintering Processes in Rotary Tubular Kilns

Part 1: Assessment of Tubular Rotary Kiln Modelling Processes to Create Sintering Process Control Systems

Within a rotary tubular kiln and in the lining of the oven, we consider methods for modelling the temperature fields. These models are used to build a control system that supports the technical parameters required and reduces heat loss to the environment through the kiln body. The application of a one-dimensional model to these processes is verified by two-dimensional modelling of the processes within the kiln. Using the ANSYS Fluent software package, a simulation method for selecting a new design for the thermal insulation elements, ensuring the reduction of heat loss to the environment and performing the required thermal processing is implemented. It proposes a new type of insulation feature that reduces the heat loss from the kiln to the atmosphere and reduces the temperature of the kiln’s outer surface. A device used by a thermal imager to monitor the condition of the lining and a control system that ensures the quality of the lining They are produced without stopping the operation of the kiln. The developed mathematical model of petroleum coke calcination for enhanced coke production describes chemical transformations with adequate adequacy through weight loss of the charge in the selected rotary tubular kiln. It can be used with the use of nonlinear mathematical methods of programming for optimising an industrial operation.
