Detailed Study on Total Information Score, Multivariate Analysis and Usefulness of Agricultural Knowledge and Information of Irrigation Farmers in North Western Nigeria

A key component that is concerned with describing the variance-covariance structure of a number of variables is typically referred to as multivariate by a few linear combinations of these variables. The information source is any device generating or storing information intended for transmission. This research explores the use of multivariate statistical analysis and the overall data score for irrigation farming knowledge sources in North West Nigeria. To examine the effect of knowledge sources on access to agricultural information by irrigation farmers, a questionnaire survey of 368 households was used. Using a qualitative and quantitative research method, three states were analyzed. The study results showed that irrigation farmers in the study region preferred to use public and private sources of knowledge. The findings further show that a clear positive linear relationship exists between the needs of irrigation farmers for agricultural information and the sources of that information. Therefore, the study proposed that more sources should be explored and made available to irrigation farmers in order to fill in the knowledge gaps for irrigation farmers. The type and level of training depends on the readiness of agricultural information centers (ministries), user-researchers, extension staff, rural irrigation farmers and policy makers. This is because the absence of instruction for users of articulated agricultural information down to the grass-root level has always impeded the dissemination to farmers of agricultural information.
