Study on Parametrically Excited Microelectromechanical System in the Problems of Orientation of Moving Objects

The study’s goal is to investigate the motion dynamics of a parametrically stimulated micromechanical gyroscope and the prospect of using it as a ground-based precision device for orienting mobile objects. The job of orienting mobile objects has been accomplished using a mathematical model of a microelectromechanical system (MEMS). The parametric stimulation of such MEMS by varying the static stiffness of the sensitive element’s suspension is a distinguishing characteristic. The ability to determine the genuine meridian’s direction with the needed accuracy has been demonstrated using model equations. The results of numerical calculations have been presented, allowing not only to depict the device’s behaviour as a high-speed gyrocompass, but also to define the requirements that assure the device’s stable operation in the incoherent mode of its excitation.
