Divine-Prophetic Discourse in Biblical and Quranic Texts: A Stylistic Analysis
The purpose of this research is to identify the stylistic features of Divine-Prophetic discourse in Biblical and Quranic texts. The use of various figures of speech is the most common stylistic style used in religious literature. Specifically, this project sets out to address the following question: what are the most common stylistic devices used in this type of discourse? As a result, the study’s goal is to discover the most common stylistic elements used in Divine-Prophetic discourse, as well as the similarities and variations between Biblical and Quranic writings in this regard. Certain stylistic techniques, like as parallelism, repetition, alliteration, rhyme, simile, and metaphor, are said to be used in Divine-Prophetic speech. Leech and Short’s (2007) categorization of figures of speech is used to analyse the data under consideration in order to meet the goals of this paper and test its hypothesis. In addition, the results of the analysis are calculated using a statistical method represented by the percentage equation. Three Biblical texts from various books of the Old Testament are analysed, as well as three Quranic texts from various suras of the Glorious Quran. The results of the investigation show that the aforementioned hypothesis is partially verified in the Biblical texts, as parallelism, repetition, alliteration, and simile are extensively employed in these texts, although rhyme and metaphor are not. The Quranic passages, on the other hand, have fully verified the same theory.
