Wilckodontics: Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics

The purpose of this article is to emphasise the benefits of Wilckodontics in expediting local hard and soft tissue remodelling and, as a result, reducing the time required to complete orthodontic treatment. The second goal is to reduce or eliminate the need for orthodontic appliances, which can be inconvenient for the patient. Wilckodontics, also known as periodontally accelerated osteogenic orthodontics, is a type of orthodontic treatment (PAOO). The periodontium is a living tissue, and controlling its remodelling affords an advantage in traditional orthodontic therapy. The PAOO technique’s synergistic effort from the periodontic and orthodontic sectors can reduce standard orthodontic treatment time to 3 to 9 months. The origins of this procedure can be traced back to the early 1900s in orthopaedics. It was only lately that it was upgraded to aid in the straightening of teeth and the correction of bites. This article will help you understand the indications, contraindications, and difficulties of Wilckodontics.
