Fuzzy Adaptive Autonomous Electromagnetic 2-Speed Gearbox for Electric Vehicle

Posted on January 13, 2021 by Editor JournalGazett

The goal of the Global Automotive Strategy (GAP) is to develop advanced automotive technology linked to MobilityasaService, Next Generation Vehicle (NxGV) and Industrial Revolution (IR) 4.0.0. Electrical vehicles (EV) and electrical conditional automation vehicles may be NxGVs (EAV). The obvious versatility of the future will be the prototyping technologies for NxGV with rising levels of automation. Either an automatic transmission (AT) or a continuously variable transmission may be the NxGV transmission (CVT). The automatic gearbox and CVT, however, are heavier and need more room, so they consume more energy and are hard to mount with an electric NxGV motor. The single-speed gearbox (SSGB) is also lighter, but not ideal for providing adequate torque while climbing. It is therefore a key technology challenge for NxGV to build a compact and automatic energy efficient transmission. The object of this study is to present a prototype of an electromagnetic two-speed gearbox (AEM2SGB) compact and lightweight artificial adaptive fuzzy interference system (AAFIS) for the NxGV in compliance with the forward policy of GAP 2020 and IR4.0. This project was sponsored by the International Islamic University Malaysia Research Management Centre (RMC) with the Research Reward Flagship Grant (Ref. RIF190320032). The AEM2SGB was designed using equal road loads for a 3.0 kN IIUM test car and found the shift times of the AEM2SGB in the first gear to be 1.5 seconds with a higher torque of 530 Nm and 1.8 seconds for 110 km / h in the second gear. Therefore, the high-end AEM2SGB is expected to reduce the NxGV drivetrain’s weight by about 46 percent and increase the NxGV’s performance by reducing power consumption by about 30 percent and extending the range by 15 percent. The AAFIS capabilities will run in NxGV automatic mode for successful management of AEM2SGB.
