The paper uses state-level data for the periods 1990-91 to 2004-05 and 2005-06 to 2013-14 to analyse the production performance of the rice producing states of India. As suggested by Battese and Coelli (1995), the stochastic output frontier model using panel data has been used to estimate the efficiency variations taking into account an integrated impact model.
